introduction to glazing
This summer, we’re running our Introduction to Glaze course, where we demystify glazing by going back to basics. Using the classic 4321 recipe, we’ll explore glaze components and introduce R ratios to understand glaze durability.
We’ll then look at transition metals as colourants, emphasising the importance of a solid base glaze before exploring special effects.
Due to the presentation element, this session will run for 3 hours. After some theory, you’ll make your own base glaze and test tiles, adding colourants and opacifiers. All tiles will be fired and results discussed in Free Wheeling sessions.
